Introduction – what is Pay-Tel?
Pay-Tel is a cloud based PCI level 1 approved payment application.

Pay-Tel allows the caller to enter the secure data via their telephone keypad and the resulting DTMF data is suppressed providing a secure and efficient payment process. By suppressing the data entered by the caller, the system prevents credit card information from being picked up by the call-handler, caller or recording equipment ensuring watertight security of data. The payment details are forwarded straight through to the merchant’s credit card processing platform in a secure format such as XML over HTTPs (other formats are available on request). In accordance with legal requirements concerning call recording and storage, Pay-Tel also supports operation alongside call recording systems without disruption.
The Pay-Tel solution sits on a standalone state of the art platform located within Cable & Wireless.

- At the stage of card processing the agent will enter a request to activate Pay-Tel using predefined keypad selections
- At this point Pay-Tel is activated and handles the card transaction process

Why Pay-Tel
The security behind Pay-Tel
Despite the fact our IVR’s are hidden behind 2 layers of CISCO firewalls internally the IVR’s still communicate using the latest TLS1.2 secure communication methods.
The PCI principles work in such a way that even if an attacker was able to bypass the external layers of security this would not give them access to any sensitive data as there are further layers of security hardening on the internal core systems. The secure protocols used internally together with continuous monitoring would make further penetration extremely difficult.
A secure PCI network is at least as secure on the inside as it is on the outside; our Pay-Tel solution is exactly that. Although Pay-Tel is extremely secure, our systems are monitored and self scanned using PCI approved tools within the network – continually probing for any potential breaches in security. Separate to our own scanning procedures conducted continuously, under PCI controls our system is scanned both internally and externally by PCI auditors every quarter
The platform builds our own API’s and integrates with customer API’s for data exchange to provide screen pop ups for call centres and distribution via skill based routing, provide CRM or data population and many other unique attributes; almost anything a client wishes for the system to do, it can. The system is truly bespoke. With Pay-Tel we have continued this heritage with a suite of secure methods that can be monitored and manipulated according to a client’s individual requirements and network architecture.
The platform is heavily resourced in highly skilled programmers and engineers and is comfortable working with such high levels of requirements and integration plans.

Real telephony
Calls are delivered using ISDN over TDM otherwise known as ‘real telephony’, we do not transmit in unsecured SiP or VoIP providing increased level of security.
